Summary A petition in LHC seeks a judicial inquiry into the Chakwal CCD firing incident, calling for an independent probe and a judicial commission to ensure accountability
LAHORE (Dunya News) – A petition has been filed in the Lahore High Court seeking a judicial inquiry into the Chakwal Crime Control Department (CCD) firing incident, raising concerns over transparency and accountability in the handling of the case.
The application was submitted by Judicial Activism Panel chief Muhammad Azhar Siddique through a miscellaneous petition.
According to the plea, the killing of Hania was not an isolated incident but reflected a serious institutional failure. The petitioner argued that the case has exposed major questions surrounding the transparency of CCD operations and highlighted an apparent lack of accountability.
The petition further urged the court to order an independent investigation with assistance from Scotland Yard to ensure a credible and impartial probe.
It also requested the formation of a judicial commission headed by either a serving or retired senior judge of the higher judiciary to thoroughly investigate the incident and determine responsibility.
